Meet Pear Enzyme Glaze: Brighter, Smoother Skin After Just One Use
Exfoliation has always been a pillar of barrier health at Sorella Apothecary. With French Clay & PHA Solution, we brought a new category of acid exfoliation to the treatment room. Now, we are expanding that lineup with something equally considered: Pear Enzyme Glaze.
Powered by Pear and Lime Enzymes alongside a gentle acid complex, this results-driven, instant skin treat combines enzymatic exfoliation with targeted resurfacing to reveal fresher, smoother, more even skin after just one use. It is available as both a backbar treatment and a retail product, making it one of the most versatile additions to the Sorella exfoliation story.
What Is Enzymatic Exfoliation, and Why Does It Matter?
Acids and enzymes do not work the same way, and that distinction matters in the treatment room.
Acids exfoliate by chemically loosening the bonds between dead skin cells at the surface. Enzymes work differently: derived from fruit sources, they act as biological catalysts that break down keratin protein in dead skin cells and dissolve surface buildup without friction or chemical aggression. When enzymes and gentle acids are combined — as they are in Pear Enzyme Glaze — each works through a different mechanism, targeting multiple causes of dull and uneven skin at once.
The result is a more complete exfoliation experience that is also more broadly inclusive. Sensitive skin, sensitized skin, and barrier-compromised skin all have a place in this treatment.
The Formula: A Layered Approach to Exfoliation
Lime Enzyme
Sourced from Microcitrus Australasica (Finger Lime) and Microcitrus Australis (Round Lime), two citrus species prized for their naturally occurring fruit acids and enzymes, Lime Enzyme enhances resurfacing and contributes to the bright, fresh character of the formula.
Papaya + Pineapple Enzymes
Carica Papaya and Ananas Sativus Fruit Extract gently dissolve surface buildup and enhance smoothness without mechanical irritation — the foundation of the visible brightening and texture refinement clients notice after just one treatment.
Lactic Acid (AHA)
A hydrating alpha hydroxy acid that refines texture and tone while supporting moisture retention. Gentler than glycolic due to its larger molecular size, it exfoliates without dehydrating.
Mandelic Acid (AHA)
A slow penetrating AHA well suited for sensitive and inflamed skin. Mandelic Acid supports cell turnover and addresses hyperpigmentation with a lower risk of post treatment irritation.
Lactobacillus Ferment
A skin conditioning ferment that helps maintain barrier balance throughout the exfoliation process, supporting the microbiome while the acids and enzymes do their work.
Olive Oil + Jojoba Esters
Lightweight lipid replenishment that reduces post-exfoliation dryness and supports barrier recovery. Exfoliation that ends with the skin feeling nourished, not stripped.
Who It Is For
Pear Enzyme Glaze was formulated for a wide range of skin types and concerns:
-
Dry and dehydrated skin
-
Combination skin
-
Oily and breakout-prone skin
-
Congested and clogged pores
-
Sensitive and sensitized skin
-
Hyperpigmentation and brightening concerns
The layered mechanism means this formula works across a broad client base. For more reactive skin types, the enzyme activity can do the heavy lifting while estheticians adjust massage time to suit the client's threshold.
"The Lime Enzyme brings naturally occurring fruit acids and enzymes from Finger Lime and Round Lime, the Pear Enzyme adds a layer of gentle, effective resurfacing, and Papaya and Pineapple support the enzyme story beautifully — all working alongside our acid complex. What I love most is that this supports the barrier throughout — it does not compromise it. Our lineup already has strong exfoliation options, and this adds a dimension that makes the whole category stronger."
